TRAC-V Regional Medical Operations Coordination Center (RMOCC)
The TRAC-V Regional Medical Operations Coordination Center (RMOCC) serves as a centralized coordination hub for healthcare situational awareness, patient movement, resource coordination, and regional communication across the Rio Grande Valley. The RMOCC strengthens collaboration between hospitals, EMS agencies, public health departments, emergency management agencies, trauma systems, and other healthcare partners to support both day-to-day healthcare operations and large-scale emergencies. By providing a medium for real-time information sharing and coordinated decision-making, the RMOCC enhances regional preparedness, improves patient outcomes, and helps ensure that healthcare resources are utilized efficiently during incidents ranging from routine capacity challenges to disasters, mass casualty incidents, infectious disease outbreaks, and severe weather events.
Regional medical coordination centers are increasingly recognized as a national best practice for healthcare preparedness and emergency response. Organizations such as the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the United States Department of War (DoW), the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) have emphasized the importance of coordinated regional healthcare systems capable of rapidly sharing information, balancing patient loads, and coordinating scarce resources during emergencies. The RMOCC model supports these national recommendations by creating a structured, scalable framework that connects healthcare partners across jurisdictions and disciplines, strengthening the resilience of the regional healthcare system before, during, and after emergencies.
