ABOUT TRAC-V
Trauma Service Area V is the geographic area which lies at the southernmost tip of Texas. The area consists of four counties: Cameron, Hidalgo and Starr Counties which share a border with Mexico. Willacy County lies to the north of Cameron County. There are 12 hospitals within the region, 12 of which are now trauma designated facilities.

MISSION STATEMENT
The primary mission of the Rio Grande Valley Trauma Regional Advisory Council is to address Trauma System Development and assist member organizations in attaining trauma designation or re-designation. In doing so, the Rio Grande Valley Trauma Regional Advisory Council will:
1- Encourage multi-community participation in providing trauma care. Ensuring the most efficient, consistent, and expeditious care for each individual who experiences an acute injury.
2- Enhance assessment, triage and communication between pre-hospital providers and hospitals to facilitate treatment and transportation of patients to the most appropriate trauma facility.
3- Attain funding resources for medical and public trauma education and awareness.
